Neck Lift

A neck lift addresses the area beneath the jawline: loose skin, vertical banding of the platysma muscle, and fullness under the chin. Depending on what is present, it may involve tightening the muscle, removing or redistributing fat, removing excess skin, or a combination.

It is often performed alongside a facelift, since the two areas age together and treating one alone can leave a visible mismatch. Whether that combination is appropriate is a decision for your treating surgeon.

People commonly discuss a neck lift when the jawline has softened, when vertical cords have become visible in the neck, or when fullness under the chin has persisted despite weight being stable.

Assessment will consider skin elasticity, muscle position, the amount and location of fat, and the underlying bone structure — particularly chin projection, which materially affects how the neck reads.

A supportive garment is usually worn for a period after surgery. Swelling, bruising and tightness are usual in the early weeks, and sensation may take longer to normalise.
